Well I started as a dental assistant on Saturday, when he was 13, so 21 is really a late start.
Why not listen to "free for a week or two? Here in Australia there are courses provided by the Association of Dental Nurses offered that are directed to a first job out of reach.
Think about "clean". Hygiene is very important in dental surgery.
(I'm English, but worked for the American dentists with dentists in South Africa, is the best representative of the world.)
Whatever you do, which for a few years as a dental nurse is a great experience. I have to give 132 times to a dental hygiene course and could not, so I took a course in podiatry what I learned in nursing is helpful in dental Podiatry. Hygiene, contact with the patient-management practices. But as a podiatrist is a self practitionerYIPEE!
Home is clean, friendly and punctual. You are with people doing well and gentle and loving. They are sensitive and not afraid of blood and pus.
Dentists are skinflintDS and to be paid peanuts, so that the offer of free labor to give you a glimpse at least.
